“Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow.”
Albert Einstein
Thank you for finding your way here and for taking the time to visit my website. The first step is always the hardest.
Sometimes everything can seem hopeless and you can't see a way of coping alone.
Seeking therapy can be seen as hope because you want things to get better.
Wanting things to improve is a part of being human.
Are you seeking individual or relationship counselling?
I’m Denise, an integrative therapist offering individual and Couples counselling in a warm and supportive space where you can explore life’s challenges.
Whether you’re struggling with your mental health, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, or feeling stuck in old patterns, you don’t have to go through it alone.
My approach is tailored to you as an individual. I work in a person-centred way and also draw on Transactional Analysis, CBT, and attachment theory.
Together, we can make sense of what you’re experiencing, explore how the past may be shaping the present, and find practical tools to help you move forward.
🌿 If you’re ready to take the next step, I’d be glad to walk alongside you as you begin your journey towards greater calm, connection, and confidence.
Anger
Anger is one of the most powerful and uncomfortable emotions that we experience. I have put together an anger management course that will help you to channel your anger impulses in a healthy way. Sessions are offered on a 1-1 weekly basis. Please see my page on anger management for further information.
Are you repeating old patterns?
Do you find yourself repeating the same old patterns of the past with a desire that things could be different? Maybe going through life doing the same old thing because you fear getting it wrong only to find you have made the same mistake? You take a different route only to find yourself ending up at the same old destination. When you start a new relationship do you hope it will be different from your other past relationships? If your answer is “yes” you are not alone. We tend to gravitate towards the same kind of person because they’re famillar and we feel comfortable.
Counselling can help you to gain an understanding of why and when these patterns first started and where they come from. Through a new gained understanding you have an opportunity to do things differently.
Together we can assess your needs and look at a way of moving forwards. My belief is that through awareness we have a choice and it doesn’t have to be more of the same old thing.
"Never be a prisioner of your past. It was a lesson and not a life sentence."
can help you to find your inner emotional resilience and learn how to deal with life’s challenges in a different way. Together we can look at improving and protecting your mental health.
- talk over your situation in confidence
- reach a better understanding of your difficulties
- decide on the best way forward for yourself
Whatever the problem you bring to counselling – whether it is to do with relationship issues, or you are under stress and there are difficulties at work, or you are feeling anxious, angry, feeling sad or depressed we can explore this together.
Online Counselling
Online Counselling is very effective. it also allows for me to work with you if you are not in travelling distance of my therapy room.
For many, online counselling is more convenient than face to face counselling because there is no travel, no parking and just counselling in the comfort of your own home.
If online or telephone counselling is an option for you please get in touch via my contact page.
How Can Counselling Help?
What is Counselling?
Counselling falls under the umbrella term ‘talking therapies’ and allows people to discuss their problems and any difficult feelings they encounter in a safe, confidential environment. The term can mean different things to different people, but in general it is a process people seek when they want to change something in their lives or simply explore their thoughts and feelings in more depth.
Can it help me?
Counselling therapy can help you to understand yourself better and the way you think, which will ultimately help you to develop a clearer understanding of your problems. I can also help you to learn healthy coping strategies. The more armed with information you are, the easier it gradually becomes to navigate your way through any difficulties you are facing so that eventually you can come out the other side feeling more positive.
What to Expect
If you have decided to try counselling, you might be feeling anxious about your first session. Making the decision to get help and address the issues you are facing is an important first step and should be commended. I will ask you why you are seeking therapy, explore your current situation and personal history and look at your physical and psychological symptons.
